In 2002 we arrived here in Wales. We bought a non-working farm with holiday cottages and a 3 bedroom farmhouse. We arrived with 3 goats, 4 ponies, a horse, 3 dogs and five cats and of course not forgetting the family of my eldest daughter Kiri who was then 15, Amy who by this time was nearly three, my husband (part time as he is still working in London) and my mum and dad. The first thing we had to do was extend the accommodation and do up the holiday cottages which were looking a little tired - between bookings of course. In 2003 our son Joshua arrived and again at 3 months also suffered from eczema but was clear with the goats milk after a month.
With treats in mind the idea of Kid Me Not was born late in 2004 and early in 2005 the help of the Food Centre for Wales was sought to change a fudge recipe from 'Kitchen' to 'Manufacturing'. They were extremely helpful and still are with all sorts of information about equipment, regulations, and the all important "tastings". I do like to have opinions on new products and can always expect honesty from my friends at the Food Centre.
Our first public tasting was at the Royal Welsh Show in July 2005 and the company started to sell fudge in October 2005.
I am still a member of Surrey Goat Club and the British Goat Society and enjoy a good association with my local welsh clubs.
Loraine is selling the fudge and other goats milk products both to the trade and retail and via the internet at www.kidmenot.co.uk/store and you can contact us for more details or read our Blog here. |
